As a new school year begins in Alexander County, RHA continues its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of students, families, and educators through community outreach and education efforts.

Throughout the week, RHA staff connected with local schools and community members to share information about behavioral health services and resources. These efforts focused on ensuring that students and families know where to turn for support as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of a new school year.

One highlight of the week was participation in a local high school’s Open House event. RHA provided educational materials, wellness resources, cold water, and cookies while engaging with students, parents, and staff.

This year’s outreach centered around a simple message: be a “Smart Cookie.” Students and families were encouraged to start the school year by prioritizing:

  • Mental health and emotional well-being
  • Staying hydrated
  • Getting enough rest
  • Maintaining open communication with trusted adults

These small steps can help create a strong foundation for success both in and out of the classroom.

To reinforce the message, cookie trays were delivered to middle and high schools across the county during Open House events. Additional trays were provided to School Resource Officers as a thank-you for their ongoing service and support of local students.

RHA remains dedicated to providing accessible resources and support for students, families, and educators, and looks forward to helping people thrive throughout the year ahead.
