Comprehensive Clinical Assessments
The RHA Comprehensive Clinical Assessment is the cornerstone of the treatment process. Our licensed clinicians perform an evaluation that is professional, thorough, informative, and discrete. Upon referral, we will coordinate the date and time for evaluation and upon completion, fully explain the results of your assessment and any service recommendations.
Day Treatment Services
Day Treatment is for children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with mental health related conditions and have experienced challenges that prevent them from being successful in school and other settings. Treatment is a 3-step process that focuses on supporting the child and family as they work to manage the child’s symptoms and maximize his/her chances of success in traditional school environments.
Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services
By employing Deaf professionals, RHA ensures that the unique needs of the Deaf community and Deaf culture are respected and integrated into all services, including mental health and employment services. Our services are designed to offer support to people who are deaf and/or hard of hearing as they seek to establish stable living arrangements, learn new skills and information, find helpful resources, and gain meaningful employment. We believe that people should be as independent as possible in their lives, while receiving the support they need to be successful in reaching their goals.
Domestic Violence Services
RHA provides state-approved curriculum for male perpetrators of domestic violence. We accept both voluntary referrals as well as individuals who have been referred via court-order/DSS mandate. Victim and family safety is the primary goal of our program. We focus on helping batterers change from violent patterns of behavior directed towards a man, woman, or child to making responsible, non-violent choices in their relationships with others. Participants are encouraged to make life-long changes – examining their behavior, underlying beliefs and intentions, taking full responsibility and holding themselves accountable for their own choices.
Medication Management Services
Our medication management services are designed to seamlessly integrate safe and effective prescribed medications for mental illness, addiction and/or developmental disabilities with appropriate therapeutic interventions and psychiatric/medical care. Proper medication management can help to stabilize symptoms, strengthen recovery efforts, and reduce the likelihood of future crisis situations.
Mental Health Outpatient Services (Individual, Group & Family)
Our Mental Health Outpatient Services are built around the concept of “Living Wellness” because we believe that the path you choose in your recovery efforts will give you the tools you need to live well. Group therapy is our main therapeutic approach because it has been shown to have lasting positive results for people who regularly attend therapy and self-help groups.
Individual therapy sessions provide the opportunity to review your progress, discuss individual challenges and concerns, and manage crisis situations when needed. We also provide family therapy, psychiatric care, medication management, peer support and enhanced services where needed.
Peer Supports
On the path to recovery, it helps to have the support of someone who has been there before. That’s where RHA Peer Support Specialists can help. Peer Support Specialists are people with mental illness and/or addiction who have completed at least 40 hours of intensive Peer Support training and have demonstrated resiliency and success in their own personal recovery efforts. Because of this, they can offer special insight as they help others in recovery build self-advocacy skills, learn to better manage their mental health needs/addiction, and find housing, employment or education. Peer Support Specialists can also help people in recovery develop their Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), which focuses on life goals, crisis planning, and relapse prevention.
Psychiatry/Telepsychiatry
Access to appropriate psychiatric care can be an important part of the recovery process. We provide both in-person psychiatric services and also make use of telepsychiatry, one of the most effective ways to provide access to psychiatric care for people in isolated or underserved areas. Through specialized videoconferencing and internet technologies, a licensed psychiatrist can provide a wide range of services including diagnosis/assessment, medication management, and group or individual therapy.
Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)
RHA Psychosocial Rehabilitation programs are designed to help adults with behavioral health challenges increase their ability to live independently, minimizing their need for ongoing professional intervention. We help people set and pursue their own personal goals and implement steps to better manage their illness and their everyday lives. Self-advocacy, management of personal care and daily living, pre-vocational activities, and supported employment are just some of the features our PSRs can offer.
Quick Response Team (QRT)
Are you an overdose survivor? Do you want to talk? Do you want to learn about safer using practices? Do you need Narcan? RHA’s Quick Response Team can help.
Our Quick Response Team is located in Alamance County and serves those in the surrounding community. We are here to help you get connected to the care and services that you want. We are not here to pressure you or talk you into treatment. We’re here if you want it, and we’re here if you don’t.
If you are interested in connecting with the Quick Response Team, please call or text 336-365-6583 or visit us at 2732 Anne Elizabeth Dr., Burlington, NC 27215.
SHORE Program
RHA SHORE provides effective therapeutic services and support to young people aged 15 – 30 who are experiencing certain life challenges due to unusual thoughts or behaviors or seeing and hearing things that others do not (symptoms associated with schizophrenia spectrum and similar psychotic disorders).
Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP)
RHA can help provide or coordinate all kinds of support to people who struggle with addictive diseases. Not only do we offer DWI services, we can also help you gain admittance to detox programs or residential treatment centers. Our Outpatient Program includes regular and intensive components, depending on your level of need. We also offer intensive case management, crisis intervention & prevention planning, individual, group, and family therapy, substance use education and flexible payment options. Per State and Federal regulations, priority admission is given to pregnant women and IV drug users.
School-Based Therapy Services
Our School-Based Therapy Program is designed to help meet the needs of our community’s children and families. Therapy is provided in a school setting by Masters’ level therapists who have experience working with children and adolescents. Our therapists work with students to address such issues as anger, depression, impulsivity, grief and anxiety. School-Based Therapy may include a combination of individual, group and family counseling. In addition, therapists work with teachers, school staff and community partners to support the needs of the students they serve. School-Based Therapy aims to provide youth and their families with improved coping skills, strengthened relationships and increased resiliency.
Parenting Classes
RHA offers time-limited and ongoing classes for parents that address common problems encountered in raising children. These issues include learning how to set boundaries and limits, improving communication, shaping positive behaviors, understanding developmental stages, and strategies to assist parents in strengthening their relationships with their children. We use proven, evidence-based approaches such as “The Nurturing Parent” Program and the “Positive Parenting” Program.
Substance Use Outpatient Program (SAOP)
Our Outpatient Program for Substance Use consists of structured group therapy sessions focused on further developing a person’s coping skills and building a healthy recovery through strengthening behavioral steps and strategies outlined in each person’s individualized relapse prevention plan. Per State and Federal regulations, priority admission is given to pregnant women and IV drug users.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of disorders such as depression/suicidal tendencies, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use/addiction, and eating disorders. DBT is often the treatment of choice for people who have high-risk, tough-to- treat conditions or who are seeking treatment for multiple diagnoses. Utilizing group and individual sessions as well as phone counseling, DBT focuses on building mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and the healthy regulation of strong emotions.
